Life Insurance For all Ages

Let us simplify the Medicare enrollment process.

At its core, there are three basic types:

2.  Traditional Medicare (with a Medicare Supplement / Medigap Plan)

Traditional Medicare is often paired with a Medicare Supplement, also known as a Medigap plan. These plans are designed to pay the remaining costs that Original Medicare Parts A and B do not cover, depending on the specific Medigap plan you choose.Under this setup:

  • Medicare Parts A & B are primary.
  • Your Medigap plan is secondary, covering deductibles, coinsurance, and copays according to the plan letter (such as Plan G or Plan N).

Because Medigap plans do not use networks, you have tremendous freedom in choosing your healthcare providers. You may see any doctor or hospital in the United States that accepts Medicare, with no referrals required. These plans are generally higher in cost but very low out-of-pocket.

A separate Part D prescription drug plan is needed to cover medications. These often have no monthy premiums.

2.  Medicare Advantage (Part C)

These plans are considered your primary insurance. Replaces Original Medicare. The private insurance company becomes your primary coverage. When you enroll in an Advantage plan, you receive your Medicare benefits through the private insurance company, not through Original Medicare. Because these plans operate with networks, referrals, prior authorizations, and service‑area rules, they are generally more restrictive than Medicare Supplement plans. Medicare Advantage plan include a part D Drug Plan automatically, generally lower in cost but higher out of pocket.

3.   Prescription Drug Plans (Part D)

Medicare Part D plans are prescription drug insurance offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare. They help pay for the medications you pick up at the pharmacy.

You can get Part D in two ways:

  1. As a standalone Part D plan – Used when someone has Original Medicare + a Medicare Supplement (Medigap). – You choose the drug plan separately.
  2. Built into most Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans – Drug coverage is included automatically in most MA plans.
